Niles Luther outdoors

FIRST LIGHT!!

2021 looks more promising than ever. We are celebrating this great potential by launching a new collaboration with composer/cellist Niles Luther. Our goal is to raise the bar of music inspired by visual art to create the visual art in tandem with the music. Niles will work closely with the chosen visual artist and we'll have a chance to watch the process unfold.

Based in New York, Niles Luther, at age 24, has already carved out an impressive body of work. As the music director for artist Kehinde Wiley, Niles composes and produces music for Mr. Wiley's international exhibitions. He has worked closely with and received sponsorship of American String Quartet violinist Laurie Carney, who is a frequent guest of the Altazano Salon Series.

Niles "endeavors to bridge the gap between art forms by borrowing from the classical tradition and lending its sustained excellence to the artistic and musical idioms of the contemporary era."

The new work will be premiered in association with the visual artist by violinist Laurie Carney, cellist Niles Luther and pianist Debra Ayers. A 2022 premiere is planned.

Thanks for your ongoing support of chamber music and music inspired by visual art.
