SYDNEY Project Consortium
Montage Music Society is leading a consortium of chamber ensembles commissioning this new work from composer Elliot Roman. “SYDNEY” is inspired by a conversation with an AI chatbot that gradually reveals an eerily human alter ego. This rather timely project is proposed to be approximately 20 minutes in duration and scored for soprano with a combo of piano, double bass and drum set.

Terms
The fee for each participating consortium member is $500. The fee is a contribution to Mr. Roman’s commission fee.
Each consortium member agrees to present the new work in at least one performance at its home city or another location.
Montage Music Society, Inc. is the clearinghouse for organizing the co-commission and for raising the funds needed to cover the commission costs.
Each member performance will be designated on a first come, first serve basis with Montage Music Society presenting the world premiere. Consortia member premieres will take place during the 2027/28 concert season.
Instrumentalists or ensembles are responsible for finding venues and for funding their respective performances.
Consortia members will receive a digital version of the score and parts at least three months in advance of their respective performanance.
The Consortium participation fee of $500 must be received by January 30th, 2027. On receipt of payment, members will receive a contract specifying terms on premiere, recording and other pertinent details.
